Terms and conditions

These terms apply when you use Refract. Please read them; by using the apps you agree to them.

1. Who these terms are with

Refract Presenter, Refract Remote and Refract Stage (the "apps") and refract.live are provided by edson engineering ("we", "us"). You can contact us at support@refract.live.

2. Your licence to use Refract

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the apps for your own presentations, including at your church, organisation or event. You may not resell, sublicense, reverse engineer (except where the law allows it), or use the apps to break the law.

3. Free apps and Refract Pro

The apps are free to download and use. Some features, such as cloud sync, live audience tools, the web editor and integrations, may require a paid Refract Pro plan. Prices, trial terms and what each plan includes are shown before you buy. Purchases made through the App Store are also governed by Apple's terms, and refunds for those purchases are handled by Apple. You can cancel a subscription at any time, and it ends at the close of the current billing period.

4. Your content

You own the content you create or import. You are responsible for having the rights to show it, including song lyrics, scripture translations, images, video and fonts. Displaying copyrighted songs usually requires a licence such as a CCLI Church Copyright License, and you are responsible for holding any licences you need and for reporting usage where required.

5. Connected services

Refract can connect to third-party services such as Canva. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, and you must have the right to use any content you import from them. We are not responsible for third-party services, and they may change or stop working with Refract.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use Refract to infringe others' rights, to distribute malware, to attack or overload our services, or to get around plan limits or security measures.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep Refract reliable, but we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature, we will give reasonable notice.

8. Disclaimer

To the extent the law allows, the apps are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Always keep backups of important content.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Refract in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using Refract at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and give notice in the apps for significant changes. If you keep using Refract after a change, the new terms apply.
